Everyone Else is a Returnee korean novel reviews by novelupdates users..Review by nick1mname. Rating 5/5
This is perhaps one of the best (web)novels I have ever read. Coming from the forum post the other day, it made my blood pump and my arms flail everywhere while reading. It just gives you a sense of amazement reading it, most would guarantee that after reading the first 3 chapters or even less you'd be hooked right in. The concept itself is, yes full of what you could call plot armor, but it's so well made that it doesn't even matter anymore :).Review by pandicorn. Rating 3/5
I honestly didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The story though had a very interesting new concept wasn't given the proper balance between the direction the story wanted to go. It felt like the author just decided on what the MC would do that morning and fleshed it out in the story in the evening.Pro's
- New concept
- I liked the author's reasoning for him to be OP but I thought the premise wasn't well used due to the simplistic power up system.
- A good translator
- Japanese MC, a bit of an airhead for me.
- No suspense factor, imo one of the main selling points of post-apocalyptic stories would be the mystery and suspense transitioning from a world of humanity to this savage environment accompanied by the mystery of what will happen next and finding out who screwed them up so bad. And though the story didn't follow that route, it didn't provide any sinkers and hooks to replace it.
- A bit of dessicated humor. The puns might be funnier in Korean but I didn't really get it. References feels forced as well.

This is one of the best novels out there. There is a good balance of comedy and action, I absolutely enjoyed all of the references and jokes within this novel, especially the JoJo ones. The MC has a rather realistic personality and point of view (Coming from someone who experienced countless years in solitude), which is very refreshing. This novel is a big middle finger to the stereotype fantasy (and overpowered MC) novels out there.
There are no heroines that fell in love with the MC after just one chapter.
If the MC received affection so easily, he'll become uncomfortable and feel that such a thing is strange.
Yeah, "love" is a strong word so F those forced romance.
Many heroines might have fallen in love with the MC but he's not like those other MCs who quickly jump into sexual carnage with the heroines.
He might be dense but that doesn't mean he's stupidly dense, this novel made me realize that denseness and stupidity doesn't always go hand in hand.
An MC who's brain isn't controlled by libido and not stupidly dense?
Dear lord, I'm glad they still exist.
Villains have personalities and not simply annoying.
It has been shown in this novel that villains have many forms.
An ally who will forsake or betray you for their own sake?
Sure, maybe that decision is the correct one, but don't expect to that your actions forgiven and/or forgotten, this fantasy novel isn't a fairytale after all, face the consequences of your actions.
Filler villains that are short-lived? Sure, but they are what they are. Unlike some novels out there where all villains feel like filler villains.
They do what they do so no need to keep makimg them pop out every single time or the MC will shout at you.
The story could be unpredictable(but not annoyingly so), allies are not necessarily forever allies and villains are not necessarily forever villains.
Ah sure, a selfish and ambitious guy appeared.. Did he hurt anyone? No. Did he offend anyone? No. Oh he harbored some selfish desires against the MC, but is it necessary to kill him for that? No no, let's just ignore him and hide away from trouble.
A strong ally was by MC's side at all times but then they joined those people who had forsaken him and held firm of their decision until the end. Did he keep pestering them to return? No. After hearing their answer, he respected their decision and became honorable opponents.
MC offended someone or someone offended him then they met again after a while in order to cooperate. Did they keep biting each other's ass and schemed against each other? No way. They are open-minded and doesn't have to keep making enemies unlike some novels out there, priorities please.
The comedy also doesn't feel too forced and enough to make me laugh and smile from time to time.

Translator here.Let me clarify a few things.
This is so much like a JP novel (with wimpy MC, harem, etc)
YES. IT IS LIKE A JP NOVEL. We see references to JP anime/novels/manga from time to time and from that, we see that the author was influenced by JP culture when writing his novels.
MC is too OP.
Yes, but he gets just as much life-threatening (and rather interesting) situations that fit him.
Too much filler? NO, IT F**KING ISN'T.
Crafting? That takes less than an entire chapter. UNLIKE CN NOVELS WHICH HAS SAME STUFF HAPPENING AGAIN AND AGAIN, JUST ON A BIGGER SCALE (e.g. intra-family competition, inter-clan competition, national competition, international competition. sect competition)
MC has no personality
Well, try living in solitude for a millennium and see what happens to you. (Lita was NOT with him 24/7)
The pretext sounds like nonsense
(MC being left alone, God not being able to notice him, etc)
I don't know how to make spoilers here so read at your own risk.
Do you really think he became a dropout due to that? REVEALED PLOT ISN'T ALWAYS THE TRUTH.
The girls always seem to fall for the MC for no particular reason at all.
Isn't this the case with most asian novels? I don't know how girls think, much less know how they fall in love (Do you?) so I can't really clarify, but yes I agree with this statement.
Comedy breaks the mood.
At the core, this novel is a COMEDY novel, with ACTION AS SIDE ELEMENTS. So, I advise you to read something else if you don't like comedy. I'm doing my best to translate all the jokes into English, but most of the time, the same references aren't commonly known in English. But there are references that are commonly known in both Korean and English. (Such as Haganai's 'What was that?(Nadatte?)') But for most others, I wouldn't be able to translate them perfectly

What is the best novel that is comparable to the level of Bringing farm to other world or the Awakening? The answer is Everyone else is a returnee but better! Maybe on the same level as tales of gods and devil
My own summary:
Everyone else in Earth is sent to otherworld to 'train' for the upcoming disaster 'mana' upheaval, buuuuuuuuut Mc's name was unfound by the god so he was left alone in the world filled with 'mana beasts'... So god being benevolent enough granted him status and some power so that he can train here for 10 years... and he won't age.
What I want the novel to be like and most likely it will:
Soo what I'm saying is most likely MC will be op asf when everyone come back from their 'trip to otherworld', and the people who came back from 'the trip' would think they are invincible asf buuuuut here goes MCC rekting their ass off

An inconsistent story that lacks direction, populated with characters that are barely interesting, and filled with forgettable adventures. It just makes lots of noise that just becomes wearisome the further it goes.An abundance of plot holes and unexplained materials, combined with the randomness of events makes for a story that lacks momentum. You can't feel that something big is on the horizon that the story is heading to but instead we got these random unconnected shenanigans that doesn't really pay off. Most just don't make sense nor do they provide developments to the story or character. Things just happen without any reason.
The characters have some interesting qualities, but they also contain qualities that ruins them. The protagonist for example. He is said to be very strong, reads all the books in the world, learns the variety of languages, learns a lot of skill and even got help from angels. But he is also very dumb with very shallow aspirations and pretty much only interested in his own well being. The characters just doesn't have much to offer to the story.
And the setting is really inconsistent and underutilized. Adventure is out there, but our protagonist locks himself in his workshop. Really? There are monsters to face, powerful people to meet, crisis to solve but out protagonist is occupied with his hobbies?
And when the protagonist does comes out looking for adventures, random stuff would appear. So random in fact that the angels, that must be totally bored being stuck with him, has to constantly explain whatever the heck they are encountering now. Every time our protagonist walks out, the angels will spout exposition for anything to make any form of sense. Without the exposition, the setting is more illogical and random than Wonderland from Alice in Wonderland.
This is just some incoherent random piece of work. The author might literally just be writing what comes to mind to come up with something as garbled as this.

This novel has an interesting concept, in fact, there are several interesting concepts in the story. However, all of them fail to deliver on any of the potentials they have. The idea that he is the only one left behind only crystallizes into the main character becoming/viewing himself as a super loner and being completely overpowered. The fact he can't use magic is entirely irrelevant because he's so powerful he overpowers even the most powerful magic users. This novel cycles through roughly three or four plot arcs repeatedly which can be roughly described as Main Character Curbstomps Small Fry Monsters, Main Character Fights a Supposedly Strong Monster Only to Come Out Completely Unscathed, Main Character Upgrades his Gear, Heaven Screws Up Again to Provide the Main Character Something to Do. There may be the occasional moment of Main Character is Oblivious to Female Characters Interest in him thrown in there for good measure. I know some of you are probably thinking, "Well, isn't that common in the genre?" and you're right, but this is the single worst example of it I have come across.
This is made worse by the author constantly using cliche plot developments, and going out of his way to specifically shine a light on the fact that not only is he doing so but that it should be expected. As if pointing it out someone made it better.
A more appropriate title for this work would be Everyone Else is Irrelevant.
If all you want to read is a story about a loner who becomes all-powerful and repeats the cycles I mentioned earlier there is a chance, only a chance, mind you, that you'll enjoy this, otherwise pass on it.
